Of course, it is unlikely that it will be possible to meet the family's needs for pineapples in this way, but the very fact of growing a tropical plant and obtaining an exotic fruit in our latitude is very interesting. Moreover, since the 18th century, pineapples have been grown in greenhouses and botanical gardens in Russia. And therefore - the floor is given to the author of the experiment.
I accidentally grew a pineapple. Several years ago we bought this fruit with a beautiful tuft. The pineapple turned out to be very tasty, and its crown was green, and I was sorry to throw it away. And I tried to root it.
Having cut off the crest from the pineapple, I removed the lower leaves from it, leaving a stump (approximately 3 cm long) until root buds appear (these are points on the surface of the stem circumference). I dried the lower part of the pineapple tuft for several hours in the air and put it in a jar of water so that the water reached the lower leaves. I changed the water in the bank after three days. After the roots appeared (approximately 3 cm in length), I planted the pineapple tuft in a small pot (its diameter was 10 cm). A layer of expanded clay was poured at the bottom so that excess water would go away, since pineapple is a tropical plant and does not tolerate stagnant water. I used the most common soil - for indoor flowers from the store. Later I found out that actually pineapple loves loose, nutritious and slightly acidic soil more. I put the plant in a bright, warm place on the windowsill (the windows face west there) so that direct sunlight does not fall and there are no drafts.
After about two months, the pineapple took root. I learned about this by rocking it. The plant sat tightly in a pot. And then I put it in the brightest place on the windowsill. She took care of the pineapple pot from hypothermia in the winter season, because the optimum temperature for keeping it is 20 ° C ... 25 ° C. Therefore, at this time, she wrapped the pot with a woolen scarf.
I fed the pineapple along with indoor flowers - once a month from spring to autumn with liquid fertilizers "Effekton" and "Ideal" - one cap per liter of water, alternating them. I watered the plant with warm, settled water inside the outlet. After all, pineapple is a tropical perennial herb of the Bromeliv family, and at home, and it grows in the tropical part of Latin America, rain water accumulates inside the outlet. In the summer I watered it more often, in the winter - less often.
In the flower pot, the pineapple flaunted like a green starfish, requiring careful handling as it has sharp tips. By the way, I read that its leaves contain numerous strong fibers, and therefore Latin Americans use pineapple as a spinning crop.
Every spring, I transplanted the plant into another pot with a diameter of 3 cm larger using the transshipment method, without destroying the clod of earth. The pineapple root system is very small, so an adult plant grew quite tolerably in a three-liter pot.
Four years later, when the leaves of the plant reached a length of 70 cm, in the spring, when watering a pineapple, looking inside the outlet, I suddenly found a small fruit on a leg with a tiny tuft. And I was very surprised by this. I read that in order to get a plant to bear fruit, you need to specifically treat it with acetylene (a colorless gas obtained by mixing water and calcium carbide), as is done in countries where pineapples are grown commercially. I did not process my plant with anything, but it began to form a fruit! My pineapple grew next to a large aloe plant. Perhaps this neighborhood had a positive effect on the formation of the fetus. I do not know…
In the summer, we took our curiosity to the dacha, and I planted the pineapple in a greenhouse with tomatoes, freeing it from the pot. By the fall, the pineapple fruit grew and turned yellow. The size, however, turned out to be very modest, but the taste was amazing - the pulp was tender, sweet with a slight sourness, fragrant and completely fibrous, like purchased pineapples. After fruiting, the mother's rosette died out, and new small rosettes appeared next to it, which I will also try to grow.
The experience turned out to be very positive, and we decided to try to root all the pineapples that will get to our festive table.

1. Find or purchase suitable containers with a volume of about 4-5 liters. Plastic tubs, pots or boxes with drainage holes will do.
2. Select a suitable variety from a specialist shop. It is worth giving preference to a low tomato with a high yield. Of course, indoor tomatoes should be early ripening.
3. Buy a nutritious soil enriched with essential substances.
When all the things are bought, you can start planting seeds. They can be planted in small cups, eggshells, and when the seedlings grow up, transplanted into pots. Or immediately plant in pots so as not to transplant later.
After 2-3 years, the stalk will turn into a dense bush, and after a few more years you will be able to watch the pineapple bloom. This exotic fruit will continue to bloom for about two weeks, and the long-awaited harvest will ripen in about six months.
It makes sense to stimulate the flowering of pineapple artificially.
We put the pot with the handle in a well-lit place in the apartment, but not in direct sunlight. Pineapple is a thermophilic plant, so the indoor temperature should be at least + 26 ° C. We regularly water the plant with an aqueous solution "Baikal EM-1", diluted in a ratio of 1: 1000.
Repot the pineapple once a year, constantly increasing the size of the flowerpot. With each transplant, deepen the stem of the plant one centimeter into the ground. Spinach, like all leafy greens, is a light-loving plant, which, with a lack of lighting, begins to wither, and there is simply no question of any decent harvest. Another option for growing spinach soil is a combination of vermicompost (1 part) and coconut fiber (2 parts). These fibers effectively retain moisture, preventing drying out or, conversely, stagnation of liquid in the pot.
Or you can purchase a universal soil or soil intended for seedlings. Just carefully read the composition of the soil mixture - acidic soil types are not suitable for spinach and, accordingly, there should be no peat in the composition, which leads to oxidation.
It is advisable to plant early-ripening varieties that will delight you with the first harvest in 30 days. It is recommended to first sow the seeds in a special planting box (pot), and after the appearance of 2-3 strong leaves, they should be dived into their permanent habitats. Make planting strips 1 to 1.5 cm deep, place seeds in them, cover lightly with a layer of soil and irrigate with a sprayer. Cover the container with glass or plastic to create a greenhouse effect. Expect sprouts to appear in 5-6 days. Then immediately remove the film (glass).
Spinach dives well, the main thing is accuracy and respect for the root system. Moisten the soil abundantly before removing the sprouts, and repot all the plants one at a time to their permanent location. Don't forget to water them.
This culture is hygrophilous; in dry air, the plant can begin to wither, which leads to its death. Therefore, in addition to regular watering, the leaves require additional irrigation from a spray bottle, especially in winter, when heating devices are turned on in the premises. The most favorable temperature for the growth and development of spinach is about +15? C, which can be organized, for example, on a glazed balcony (the main thing is that the temperature does not drop below +9? C). Do not forget to comply with the humidity conditions. At temperatures above 16 ° C, spinach releases arrows very quickly, which makes its leaves unsuitable for human consumption.
Watering the plant requires moderate and frequent. Try to avoid stagnant moisture so that fungal infections and rot do not begin to develop.
When spinach reaches a height of about 7-8 cm and in the presence of 5-6 large dense leaves, you can begin to feast on herbs. You can pick spinach leaves for two or even three months, until the first flower arrow appears, after which the plant can be removed, and the next batch can be sown in its place.
