Grapes are one of the oldest crops cultivated by man. People began to practice viticulture 6 thousand years ago. For comparison, wheat was cultivated 7 thousand years ago. Today in the world there are about twenty thousand varieties of grapes. Choosing from such a huge variety is not easy, especially if you have just decided to start doing viticulture. Due to its peculiarities, Rusbol is perfect as the first grape on the site.
Usually, new grape varieties are bred at a specific research institute. Sometimes new varieties are bred by experienced growers. But Rusbol has a unique international origin. This variety is the result of the joint work of NIIViV (Bulgaria) and FGBNU VNIIViV named after Ya.I. Potapenko (Russia). Rusbol was obtained by crossing a complex European-American hybrid SV 12–375 with the Superearly variety. The authors of the variety are a Russian-Bulgarian team of scientists: I.A. Kostrikin, L.A. Maistrenko, A.S. Skripnikova, I. Ivanov and V. Valchev.
Rusbol is a nutmeg early ripe variety of table-raisin grapes. The growing season is 115–125 days. The flowers are bisexual. Rusbol serves as a pollinator for all grape varieties that have the same flowering time as it.
The amber-yellow oval fruit has a sweet, musky flavor. Tasting score of fresh grapes 7.6 points, and dried raisins - 7.8. The pulp is fleshy, dense. Berries of the IV class of seedlessness, that is, with rather large rudiments of seeds, 40-60 mg. Rudimentary Rusbol seeds impart a pleasant, unique flavor to the raisins. The weight of one berry is 3-4 g. The stems of the berry are medium. Sugar content - 19-21%, acidity - 5-8 g / l. The skin is thin, poorly visible when biting grapes. The weight of the bunch is 400-600 g, sometimes up to 1.5 kg. Usually, the first inflorescence on the vine eventually gains weight up to 1 kg, the second - about 600 g, the third - about 400 g. The bunch is moderately dense or moderately loose, depending on shading. On average, there are 1.5-1.9 bunches per shoot. The transportability and commercial quality of the crop are average, the berries are not stored for so long, but since, due to rudimentary seeds, the variety is rarely grown for sale. The bush, when planted with its own roots, begins to bear fruit in the second year. The fruits are intended for fresh consumption or for drying.
With such lighting, the main drawback of Rusbol is clearly visible - rudimentary seeds.
Muscat grape varieties are those that have a distinct musky flavor. Today, scientists believe that this is the oldest group of varieties, and the very first domesticated grapes were precisely nutmeg.
The bush is medium-sized, perfectly propagates by cuttings and has excellent compatibility with most rootstocks. Frost resistance -25C °. Rusbol has established itself as a non-covering variety.
Rusbol has a very high yield, which must be regulated, otherwise everything will end in failure for the plant. It will not support the weight of its own harvest and will break down. It is imperative to remove weak shoots in order to stimulate the growth of the remaining ones, which can bear the weight of numerous bunches.
The Rusbol variety has an average resistance to fungal diseases, including gray rot, mildew and powdery mildew.
The first and most important step in planting grapes is the selection of healthy and viable planting material. Here are the features of the seedling that need to be addressed in the first place:
Before you start planting seedlings, you must also decide on a place for the vineyard. Grapes cannot stand waterlogged soil and high acidity, so they should not be planted in areas where groundwater is close to the surface. Choose an open, well-ventilated area. This will reduce the likelihood of contracting fungal diseases that thrive in humid, warm, stagnant air. At the same time, you cannot plant grapes in a vacant lot. He loves light shading from nearby shrubs and small trees.
Now you need to prepare the planting holes. Dig holes with a diameter of 30 cm and a depth of 45-60 cm. For convenience, you can use a hand-held earth auger instead of a shovel. Mix the extracted soil with humus and sand in a ratio of 2: 1: 1.
Rusbol is not a capricious variety, therefore the agrotechnical measures necessary for it are of a classic nature: watering, weeding, mulching. You need to water the bush only once a week, but abundantly: at least a bucket of water (10 liters) per plant. Remember grapes do not tolerate stagnant water well. Top dressing throughout the year is carried out according to the following scheme:
Rusbol is often called a suicidal variety. One gets the feeling that this plant does not think about the consequences at all when it lays inflorescences. This leads to an overload of the bush with the crop, which increases the ripening period of berries and vines. Therefore, when growing Rusbol, it is necessary to control the number of shoots and bunches on the bush.
First of all, you need to understand how many berries one shoot can feed. On average, it is worth expecting that 18–20 leaves are able to provide 0.5 kg of berries with sufficient nutrients, that is, one medium Rusbol bunch.
When the bush enters the flowering phase, it will become clear which shoots have not formed inflorescences. They must be broken down mercilessly so as not to waste nutrients. It is necessary to break out the shoots together with the heel, while the plant will not receive significant injuries and the wound will quickly heal.
After the grapes have faded, leave the largest bunches, removing the smaller ones that are less promising with pruning shears. Now take a closer look at the remaining bunch, it is also recommended to trim it slightly, removing small twigs.
The main enemy of Rusbol is fungal diseases. Microscopic fungi are the causative agents of gray mold, mildew and powdery mildew. Outbreaks of these diseases occur when the weather is warm and humid for a long time. There are many fungicide preparations available to combat fungal diseases. But it is almost impossible to predict in advance which medicine and how will affect a certain grape variety under certain conditions. Therefore, today copper sulfate remains the most common antifungal agent.
Carry out the first processing of the grapes in the spring before the buds have blossomed. To do this, you will need a 0.5% solution of copper sulfate: dissolve 50 g of sulfate in 10 liters of water. Repeat the treatment in the fall, after leaf fall, but now use a more concentrated solution: 3% solution for young seedlings and 5% solution for adults. Accordingly, 300 and 500 g of vitriol per 10 liters of water.
On my site it grows in such a place that the sun sees only from 12 to 18-00, but pollinated normally .. It ripens by September 1. But the problem is, no one in the family eats it. I have to add to the must to Bianca and Kristal. it is only for the sake of the collection.
Rusbol this year, behind the bunches, leaves are not visible, he overloaded himself so much that he began to lag behind in growth ... this year he did not dare to leave everything, it seems to me that not everything will last
This year Rusball was a success thanks to spring return frosts and hot second half of summer. The brushes were preserved at a height of over 1.5 meters. The bunches are all large, the berries are also like for Rusball, the seeds were absent. In dried form, this is not visible, but if you bring it to the market, it is clearly better than Turkish raisins. There was also a stepchild's harvest, but it did not ripen, I kept it so that the vine would not fatten.
My Rusbol grows on the eastern side of the house, never got sick, never hid, of all varieties, the rooting rate is the best. Even in the past year, the nearby growing Rapture has suffered greatly from oidium. And Rusbol is absolutely nothing. Formation of an underground sleeve.
Rusbol has all the necessary qualities to become the first grape that you plant on your site. It bears early crops, bears abundant fruit, and has good disease resistance. The only drawback is rudimentary seeds, but how important it is, everyone decides for himself.

The grapes of Moldova bring a big harvest, are famous for delicious berries, but at the same time they are late appearance and cannot withstand frosts.
