  • 10 cloves
  • 5 finely chopped nutmegs

Relax: what do you need for a relaxing bath?

Bathing is a moment of relaxation for both the body and the spirit. That is why it must be carefully organized: candles and ad hoc music to create a pleasant and relaxing environment. Here are the essential products to spend a special moment in the bathtub, forgetting the stresses of the day and dedicating yourself a real moment of pampering.

For a relaxing bath

For your bathroom to be pleasant and relaxing, you are spoiled for choice. Look for oils, bath salts, or bath pearls whose aroma you like the most. Let them dissolve in water and forget about everyday problems.

Add essential oils to your bath: an elixir of pleasure

A few drops of essential oil will be enough to give you a feeling of absolute well-being, to envelop your body in a velvety scent, and to obtain a soft and smooth skin. How to do? Mix in a cup 20-30 drops of essential oil with a product or food that will allow it to become water-soluble, for example, in powdered milk (by choosing this, you will also have the beneficial properties of milk), in two or three tablespoons of honey with natural yogurt or neutral liquid soap.

A bathroom for every need

- do you feel fatigued and without energy? Opt for an invigorating bath: in cold water, pour a few drops of rosemary essential oil.

- do you feel tense? Chamomile will help you!

- do you want to relax? Go for lavender.

Attention! Pregnant women and children should not use essential oils without precautions: extracts of lemon, orange, grapefruit, cinnamon, clove or mint may prove too irritating for them. Cold water does not allow these oils to release their active ingredients.

Grandma's recipes

Pour 1-2 teaspoons of peanut oil and a handful of coarse salt into the bath water: your skin will come out deliciously smooth. If, on the other hand, your skin is sensitive and does not react well to water, add a handful of cornstarch to your bathroom. Finally, for a goddess skin, pour a few drops of geranium or sandalwood extract into the water.

A revitalizing bath
- Against the muscle aches: throw two effervescent aspirin tablets into your bathroom water. It remains immersed for about a quarter of an hour. After that you will feel completely relaxed.

- The day after a party: did you drink too much? Headache won't leave you alone? Give yourself a bath, diluting 6-10 drops of juniper essential oil in water.

The art of the bathroom

The ideal temperature for bath water is 37 degrees. Do not stay immersed for more than 15/20 minutes. When you get out of the bathroom, wrap yourself in a bathrobe without rubbing your skin.

HOW THE WOMEN OF HISTORY MADE BEAUTIFUL WITH PLANTS

BERENICE . That Berenice's hair was extraordinary is well known. Here's what the story tells us about how this queen took care of her.
BERENICE II Queen of Egypt

Berenice II born around 267 BC. she was the daughter of Magas, king of Cyrene and of Apame daughter of Antiochus I.
She married Ptolemy Evergete, the third ruler of the Ptolemaic dynasty of Egypt, in a second marriage.

She is remembered in literary history as the inspirer of Callimachus (Greek poet and philologist, 305–240 BC) and in particular, as the protagonist of a delicate episode, which inspired the poet.
At the departure of her husband for the war in Syria, Berenice consecrated her hair to Aphrodite, to obtain a happy return since the offered hair disappeared from the temple, the astronomer Conon imagined that it had been transformed into a star who identified with a constellation from him just discovered, which he called Chioma di Berenice. Hence the argument of Callimaco's poem of the same name, translated into Latin by Catullus.

Almost nothing is known about this woman's personality. The only sure thing is her love for her man to whom she had sacrificed the most important thing for a woman at the time: her hair.

Her beauty treatments

That Berenice's hair was of extraordinary beauty is well known. Here's what the story tells us about how this queen took care of her

RECIPE FOR HAIR CARE

Beauty recipe for Queen Berenice's hair, which has gone down in history for her hair:

Ingredients
- a piece of elm bark not too lignified at least 10 cm long per side
-2 l of water
- a bunch of rue

A woman of great culture, intelligent, knowledgeable of many languages, attractive even more than beautiful, ambitious and unscrupulous, she was one of the most personalities.

A little history of Cleopatra

Cleopatra VII (Alexandria 69-30 BC), queen of Egypt from 51 to 30 BC she was the daughter of Cleopatra VI Trifena and of Ptolemy XIII Aulete, who had designated her heir on condition that she marry her brother Ptolemy XIV.
Cleopatra using her intellectual abilities and her faculties of seduction, thanks also to her beauty, to revive the prestige of the Ptolemaic monarchy, had to fight against the supporters of her brother-spouse Ptolemy XIV because she was accused of wanting to snatch the throne from him and therefore forced to abandon Alexandria.
Around 48 BC, Julius Caesar arrived in Alexandria and settled in the royal palace with the intention of resolving the dynastic question.

Cleopatra presented herself to Caesar at night, wrapped according to Plutarch, in a travel blanket and filled in her masterpiece of seduction. Caesar joined him to the throne with his brother and since he did not accept the decision, he brought him war, winning him and causing his death in the Nile.

Cleopatra, married again to another brother, Ptolemy XV, a boy of about ten, became the de facto ruler of Egypt.
Having returned Caesar to Rome, Cleopatra followed him some time later together with his son Caesarion, whom he had had with him, where he caused great scandal as he presented himself not only as the queen of Egypt, but also of the Romans.

Caesar died Cleopatra returned to Alexandria where shortly after Marc Anthony arrived and had been entrusted with the government of the East. Antony too fell under the charm of Cleopatra and tied his destiny and ambitions to her.
A fairytale life began for the two lovers, full of the most varied and unexpected refinements.

In the spring of 40, Antonio had to return to Italy only four years later he returned to Egypt where he found Cleopatra with their three children Alessandro Elio, Cleopatra Selene and Tolomeo.
With seduction and cunning Cleopatra obtained the title of king for her children and that Phenicia, Celesiria, Cyprus, a part of Cilicia, Syria and Arabia were incorporated into her kingdom, making Egypt buy a territorial extension that he had never known.

But now the great adventure was coming to an end: Octavian, determined to eliminate his rival Marcus Antony forever, declared war on the queen of Egypt. The decisive battle took place in the waters of Actium, where Cleopatra had accompanied Antonio in the wake of a large fleet.
With the defeat and the stampede, first Antonio killed himself with a sword stroke, then Cleopatra with the bite of an asp, in a succession of dramatic details suited to the nature of the two characters.

Cleopatra and Antony were buried together while their children were taken to Rome except Caesarion who was killed.

Cleopatra's personality

A woman of great culture, intelligent, knowledgeable of many languages, attractive even more than beautiful, ambitious and unscrupulous, she was one of the most notable personalities of her time. The reasons why this queen was famous are not only linked to her history, to the fact that she was loved by two of the most powerful men of her time, Julius Caesar and Marco Antonio but also to her beauty passing into history as Poppea, Didone , Helen of Troy and many others as one of the most seductive women in history.
At the time of Cleopatra there were no cosmetic products as we are used to find in specialized shops obtained through chemical manipulations but we relied only on what nature offered: natural and vegetable substances skilfully chosen and prepared.
It is said that a ship constantly shuttled between Egypt and ancient Greece to bring Cleopatra the spices, ointments, aromas and conditioners she needed for her daily toilet.

Therefore, if we associate the undoubted gifts of grace of this woman, the refined ability of her hairdressers and make-up artists, we can only imagine the charm that this great woman emanated and that she had to exercise on men.
