Cockroaches are insects belonging to different species and families. In nature there are about four thousand species divided into more than four hundred genera. Common cockroaches belong to the blattoid family and are also called cockroaches. These are cockroaches that frequently infest domestic environments and to a lesser extent agricultural ones. The damage to crops caused by cockroaches is limited, while the damage to the foodstuffs on which these insects eat is much more serious. The danger of cockroaches is exclusively of a hygienic and sanitary nature because these Beatles they are carriers of viruses, bacteria and protozoa transmissible to humans. In nature there are also other species of Beatles that infest garden plants and vegetables, irreparably damaging these products. Both domestic cockroaches and the cockroaches of plants can be effectively combated with adequate methods of prevention and disinfestation.

Cockroaches are insects now widespread in any corner of the planet, even at altitudes of two thousand meters. The ideal conditions for their spread, however, are hot, humid climates and the precarious hygienic conditions of the infested environment. Depending on the species they belong to, cockroaches can range in size from three millimeters to eight centimeters. The back and abdomen have a color that varies from brown, to red, to black, with other different color shades for the cockroaches affecting certain plant species. These insects can be with or without wings and with or without eyes on the side of the body. There are also a pair of long and filiform antennae, in the upper part of the body, which act as sensors. Although winged, cockroaches are not skilled fliers and if they do, they fly for a few moments. Instead, they are very good at running and escaping predators by taking refuge in the crevices of houses or gardens. Their reproduction cycle is generally sexual or amphigonic, only for some rare species there is asexual reproduction or parthenogenesis due to fertilization by the female alone. In reality, these are amphigonic females who, due to the disappearance of the males, have adapted to asexual reproduction. Cockroaches can be oviparous and ovoviviparous, that is, with new insects that are born from eggs laid in the environment or from eggs retained in the mother's womb. The life cycle of cockroaches is very long and can range from six to thirty-four months, depending on the species to which these insects belong. The larvae of cockroaches are called nymphs. These can be with or without legs. Nymphs can disperse after birth or can be cared for by their mothers for a certain period of time. This relational feature is present only in some species of cockroaches.

Cockroaches belonging to the genus of blattoids do not cause particular damage to plants, but simply infest domestic and external environments with serious hygienic implications and considerable aesthetic discomfort. If they feed on plants, cockroaches chew the woody part. However, there are also beetles that attack our plants, damaging them in appearance and production. Typically these are beetles commonly called scarabs. A common feature of most cockroaches is the presence of a fairly pronounced mouth apparatus made up of jaws specially appointed to chew large quantities of food. Some species of cockroaches are even equipped with a proboscis that digs a tunnel on the seeds of the plants, devouring their entire contents. The beetles that can be counted among the most annoying pests of vegetables and plants are: the bean bromine, the asparagus beetle, the Colorado beetle, the cucumber beetle, the chrysomelid, the Japanese beetle, the beetle of the month of May, the cetonia of the rose, the beetle of the Mexican bean, the hemipterus of the cucurbits and the weevil.

Bromium and asparagus beetle

Bean bromine is a red beetle with mottled and black head. The adult insect feeds on the leaves of the plant, while the larvae, which emerge from eggs always laid in the leaf part, penetrate the soil to feed on the roots. The asparagus beetle is a black or metallic blue insect, with yellow spots. This insect chews the stems of asparagus, both cultivated and wild ones. Infestation occurs in spring, when the insect deposits its eggs on the asparagus shoots.

Colorado beetle and cucumber beetle

Colorado beetle is a round, yellow beetle with black patches. This insect feeds on potatoes, tomatoes, eggplants, cabbage and peppers. The affected parts are the leaves, of which the Colorado beetle is greedy. The eggs with the larvae are deposited in the lower part of the leaf apparatus. The cucumber beetle also attacks other cucurbits and cabbage. Yellow or green in color, with yellow stripes, this insect, in winter, hides among the remains of dry leaves, weeds or felled tree trunks. The larvae of this beetle are very infesting because they feed on the stems. To check the infection in the plant, just squeeze the ends: if a white juice comes out then it means that it is infected with a bacterium transmitted by the insect itself.

Chrysomelid and Japanese cockroach

Chrysomelid is a very small, hopping beetle, black in color, with yellow stripes. It feeds on the leaves of cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli and lawn made up of dichondra herbs. The affected leaves appear full of holes as the insect drills holes in them to feed. The chrysomelid larvae, on the other hand, feed on seeds and roots. The infestation of chrysomelid on the plant ends as soon as the fruits appear. Infested plants generally recover from this attack, except the eggplant. The Japanese beetle is a metallic green insect with copper-colored wings. Currently this plant parasite, native to Japan, is widespread in the eastern part of the United States, but can easily be found in any garden. Its larvae are white in color and feed on tender roots and grass. The larvae of the Japanese beetle are responsible for the destruction of entire lawns.

Cockroach of the month of May and cetonia of the rose

The beetle of the month of May is dangerous only in the larval stage, when it feeds on the roots of the grass, soybeans and other crops. The rose cetonia is a hemipterus prevalent mainly in the United States. The insect, brown in color, with long legs, loves to take refuge in the rose bushes where it feeds on the petals of the white varieties. The larvae, on the other hand, feed on weeds and grass roots.

Mexican bean beetle and cucurbit hemipterus

The Mexican bean beetle is a brown colored insect with black spots. It lives in gardens and feeds on beans, shells, stems and leaves. The eggs are laid on the sides of the leaves. This cockroach can easily be confused with the ladybug. The cucurbit hemitter is a black-brown insect, with a shield-shaped back, very long legs and antennae. The insect, through a very pointed mouthparts, sucks the sap of the affected plant.

The weevil includes several varieties of beetles, black or brown in color, with red antennae and legs. The peculiarity of this insect is that it possesses a proboscis-shaped mouth apparatus, which digs tunnels in the seeds of the affected plants, laying eggs there. The larvae, on the other hand, will feed on the contents of the seeds, leaving their outer shell intact. The weevil can feed on grains, vegetables, legumes, and even ornamental plants, such as azaleas and rhododendrons.

Cockroach infestations can be prevented with appropriate hygienic measures. At home, to avoid the appearance of cockroaches, foodstuffs and food stocks must be hermetically sealed by storing them in cool and dry places. In addition, all cracks in the walls and walls where cockroaches frequently nest should be repaired. In the garden, on the other hand, it is necessary to proceed with adequate cleaning and removal of the waste of weeds, dry leaves, tree branches that in winter host the hibernation of cockroaches. Beetles that feed on roots and lawn grass or vegetables can be prevented and combated through mulching, i.e. by covering the soil with a layer of shavings, sand, sawdust, bark or plastic material, which allow the fruits to do not touch the ground avoiding infestations or risk of rot. To prevent cockroach attacks, you can also grow plants that keep them away, such as yellow daisies, garlic, jackdaw, onions, flax, catnip, coriander, nasturtium and tansy. If bran is spread around the plants, the beetles will eat them before attacking them, even going so far as to burst and then die.

When the cockroaches have already infested the house and the garden, it is necessary to resort to methods of struggle, both chemical and natural. For the purposes of respecting the environment, natural remedies are preferable. Some predators, such as ladybugs and wasps, are very useful in fighting many species of cockroaches. Carnivorous plants also play an important role in eradicating cockroaches, which are often trapped by the devouring jaws of these plant species. The methods of chemical control include, on the other hand, low toxicity insecticides for the home or garden. These are compounds that use synthetic pyrethroids, such as deltamethrin or boric acid-based products. In case of an excessive presence of cockroaches it is advisable to resort to the intervention of companies specialized in the disinfestation of domestic environments and gardens.

To kill the cockroaches, he blows up the garden: blows everything up when ... [VIDEO]

This man discovers a happy family of cockroaches in his house and, understandably, decides to get rid of them at any cost. Unfortunately, however, something will go wrong ...

He really tried them all, sir Cesar Schmitz. The 48-year-old lives in the state of ParanĂ , precisely in Eneas Marques, in one cottage with garden and wall barbecue. Obviously he does not like to discover that one lives with him colony of cockroaches, guests not liked by anyone. So his becomes a real mission, documented by some online videos: Cesar must get rid of the cockroaches at any cost. But it's more complicated than it sounds, and it's not going to end well.

The infestation it seems impossible to eradicate: cockroaches continue to inhabit Mr. Cesar's house and there is no remedy that works. He really tries them all: from the insecticide to the spray, all common methods which, however, do not give the desired effect. So the man decides to try everything out, with a decidedly unusual and very extreme method. The lairs dissipated in the garden of the house are really too many, and Schmitz has identified them all: by now he is an expert on the subject.

So he tries a radical solution: man fills all pits with gasoline and a methane-based poison, deciding to set enemies on fire with a lethal attempt that will have drastic effects. And not just for cockroaches. When Cesar goes to light the explosive with a normal match, in fact, he does not suspect that panic will happen. Next to him, in the video, there is also the unaware dog family, who almost watches the owner place a match in each hole: what did he hope to achieve? Probably just a lethal blaze for insects.

Unfortunately it will not go like this: suddenly, you see everything explode. The garden bursts in flames, destroyed by the explosive force in action. In a moment the clods of land they literally blow up, overturning and terrorizing man. Sure, the cockroaches are dead dead but the house isn't in better condition. The garden is in pieces. Fortunately, Cesar is fine and came out unscathed, but the fear of insects in his house took over and blinded his overall vision. Contacting a professional firm would have been better ...

- How to eliminate cockroaches with a specific product

THE remedies for cockroaches commercially available allow you to get rid of the presence of these insects sometimes even permanently, some are very cheap, are commonly used and are found in all supermarkets, others are more specific and require more attention.

The choice of one product or another depends above all on theextent of the infestation and from the place of reference: in the kitchen of a restaurant or a canteen it will be necessary to have greater respect than in a shed or the cellar of a building.

It is therefore advisable to carefully evaluate the characteristics of the infested environment before choosing the cockroach poison which is considered ideal.

The cheapest and simplest system: the insecticide spray

The spray insecticide is the classic cockroach repellent and for other annoying insects that can infest the house, cellar, garage and other environments. It is a low-cost product, easily available in all supermarkets and home goods stores.

L'insecticide spray it must be sprayed in corners where cockroaches can usually hide: crevices, garbage cans, small spaces located behind furniture and so on.

Care should be taken as these products contain toxic chemicals also for people, it is especially recommended to avoid spraying the insecticide in the place where children and pets are found.

A quick method for a few insects: the trap

The traps they represent one of the most used remedies for cockroaches as they avoid spreading the poison, especially indicated if the environment to be protected is the kitchen. The device consists of a box containing a bait, internally coated with an adhesive material: the cockroaches that penetrate inside remain stuck.

To be sure of the effectiveness it is necessary to place the traps in the points where the infestation has occurred. The trap it only eliminates the captured cockroachesconsequently, at least during the first few days, it is advisable to place different ones for each room. As it is easy to understand, it is a very effective remedy when the infestation is minimal.

A semi-professional system: cockroach baits

The chemical bait is a cockroach poison consisting of a gelatinous substance to which insects are attracted. The poison acts slowly, so that the cockroaches carry it with them inside the nest, contaminating the entire colony.

If spread in the right places, this type of poison manages to destroy an entire colony over a period of approximately 20-25 days.

The poisonous gel must be placed in areas that are considered most frequented by cockroaches: waste bins, cracks and crevices in walls or between tiles, damp and dark environments such as the space under the sink or behind cabinets and appliances, cellars and closets.

Among the various products against cockroaches, the poisonous gel bait is one of the most effective, even if it acts rather slowly. If the colony of insects to be eliminated is very large and infests various areas of the house, it is preferable to contact a professional for the application of the poison.

A quick and effective method: poison and liquid repellent

The liquid concentrate is a poison and a cockroach repellent at the same time, as it acts as an insecticide and very often manages to keep unwelcome insects away for several weeks.

To use it must be diluted in water and then sprayed in the places frequented by cockroaches, the solution can also be used for cleaning floors and surfaces, as well as being poured down the sink drains, from which it often happens that cockroaches come out of the pipes.

Anti-cockroach products for professional use

When the infestation takes on exaggerated proportions, the best solution is to use a professional product. This kind of products against cockroaches they are very powerful, guarantee an efficacy of several months and usually act not only against cockroaches but also against many other species of insects.

Being the chemical products which, if disseminated incorrectly, can also poison people, must be used only if strictly necessary and in any case require the intervention of a professional.

Before resorting to this product, a accurate inspection, evaluating whether the intervention is really necessary, also because the house generally remains uninhabitable for a few hours.

Cockroaches - garden

Cockroaches in the house or in the garden? Here are some remedies

Cockroaches in the home are no small problem, especially since cockroaches are the vehicle of various diseases. Before proceeding to a real cockroach pest control it will be necessary to establish that there is an infestation in progress.

Pest control cockroaches can also take place with do-it-yourself methods but when these do not prove effective (and unfortunately it happens most of the time), it is necessary to call professionals who know how to act in a targeted manner, using products that are suitable for the type of environment to be disinfest and at the same time specific to the kind of cockroach you intend to fight.

Prevent infestation
Cockroaches proliferate in very different environments, united only by specific conditions of humidity and heat in which, of course, food is available.

Ideal environments to accommodate a cockroach's nest are, for example, cellars, plumbing pipes, food storage environments.

The first step to take to control the proliferation of cockroaches is to block access to the environment in which they have been identified. The cracks in the walls must be carefully walled up, the ventilation holes and drainage holes must be closed with tightly meshed metal nets.

All food residues must be scrupulously eliminated and open food packages must be placed in rigid plastic or glass containers with lids.

The cleaning and sanitation of the rooms using special detergents or dry steam must be performed regularly in order to avoid the recurrence of the problem.

With these precautions it will be possible to limit the presence of insects and, in minor cases, to completely avoid the disinfestation of cockroaches.

The most effective products?
After eliminating all food sources and all access routes present in the premises that you intend to free from the presence of cockroaches, special insecticides must be used. The most suitable are pyretoids, which are not harmful to the health of humans.

To properly eliminate cockroaches, insecticides must be applied to clean and dry surfaces: humidity and dirt accumulations greatly limit their effectiveness which, in cases of optimal application, can last several weeks.

Pyretoids are available in different formats, which can satisfy different needs. There are practical spray cans on the market with which the application of the product is fast and extremely simple but which have the disadvantage of distributing the insecticide in a dispersive and imprecise manner.

The gel formulation, on the other hand, is suitable for public environments such as hospitals or in general for places frequented by children and the elderly. The insecticide gel works as a glue trap, able to attract cockroaches and immobilize them. The fundamental advantage of applying this kind of insecticide is the extreme precision with which it can be distributed in the most at risk points, avoiding its spreading on frequently used surfaces.

Extra tips to avoid taking risks

In order not to run the risk of having to deal with cockroaches, there are several methods that we of the pest control and rodent control company feel we can give to all those who have already had infestations but also to those who do not intend to have this experience.

Infesting insects such as cockroaches but also others such as bed bugs, mosquitoes, flies, fleas etc.

they love humidity and therefore it is highly recommended to ventilate all rooms well, even in winter, to recirculate the air and eliminate excess condensation.

The humidity that then falls on the walls makes the environment unhealthy and an ideal place for the proliferation of these insects which are then difficult to get rid of.

Cleaning is another essential element to keep away the insects that infest the house and beyond, in fact cockroaches, cockroaches, flies and the like can also find a favorable environment in restaurants, snack bars, bars, sandwich shops etc.

In addition to keeping the outside of the house or room clean so that there are also places for birds that feed on insects, it is also recommended to install one of those bat houses that are also very effective against mosquitoes.

This small flying rodent is one of the greatest aids in pest control operations because it is greedy for insects and hunts at night, when cockroaches go out more willingly.

One last tip to create a healthy and clean environment is to insert goldfish in small ponds and fountains which are very useful because they keep the water clean and eat any type of flying insect that lands on the surface of the water but also larvae and eggs. like that of tiger mosquitoes.
