Potatoes can get sick with nematode, scab and late blight.

How to grow potatoes

Landing rules

Potatoes of this variety can grow on any land and in any climatic conditions, as long as the ground is moist.

In autumn, scatter 3 kg of rotted manure per 1 m², dig up the soil to the length of the shovel.

Before planting in spring tubers 15 days germinate in the light at an air temperature of + 12-13 degrees. 3-4 days before planting, the tubers are covered with bags so that they stand a little in the dark, then the seedlings will be more friendly.

In the spring, check if the temperature of the ground at a depth of 10 cm is suitable for planting, place a regular thermometer there. For sprouted tubers, the ground temperature is +5 - 6 degrees, for non-sprouted - +8 degrees.

In the spring scatter fertilizers 1.5-2 kg of superphosphate and 3-4 kg of potassium salt per hundred square meters, re-dig. Dig holes to a depth of 10 cm, the distance between the rows should be 70 cm, between the holes - 40 cm.

Put the potatoes in the holes with their eyes up and sprinkle with soil.

Care features

If the air and soil are moist, then 70-80 days pass from germination to harvest... And with dry air and land, this process takes much longer. Therefore, it is required to water the bushes.

If there is no drought in the summer, then water it 3 times. Immediately after planting, do not water the soil, since it already contains moisture from the melted snow. But 15 days after sprouting potatoes need watering.

Water the second time when the bushes bloom, as this means that tubers have begun to grow underground. The third time is watered, depending on the state of the earth. If it is dry at a depth of 6 cm or more, then water it.

After watering, the soil is loosened and potatoes are spud each time.

Hilling protects young plants from recurrent frosts, during hilling, weeds are removed, it helps oxygen to the roots, stimulates the growth of greenery.

Top dressing

Top dressing is applied after watering or rain... The first time they feed is when the tops begin to grow. Pour 1 tbsp into a ten-liter bucket of water. spoon of urea. Pour 0.5 liters of solution under the bush.

The second time they feed when buds are formed, for this, 1 tbsp is poured into a ten-liter bucket of water. a spoonful of potassium sulfate and 1 tbsp. a spoonful of ash.

For the third time, when the bushes are blooming, a glass of semi-liquid mullein is poured into a ten-liter bucket and 2 tbsp. tablespoons of superphosphate granules.

Diseases and pests

Diseases that can affect potato Breeze - late blight, nematode, scab... With late blight, black, brownish-brown, purple spots begin to appear on the shoots.

When scab tubers also lose their taste, the starch content in them is greatly reduced. If you use ammonium sulfate, superphosphate as fertilizer, then the potatoes will not get scab.

From late blight make an infusion: 200 g of garlic is pounded until gruel, pour in a little water and leave for 2 days. After the infusion, add to a ten-liter bucket of water and water the potatoes. This is done 2-3 times every 10 days.

To eliminate late blight and scab, treat the bushes with Acrobat or Ridomil Gold as soon as the bushes are 15-20 cm high.

To protect against Colorado potato beetle you can use onion peel, it is poured into the holes when planting, and after planting, the ground is mulched with it. And also mustard, beans, calendula are planted in the aisles.

If you process the tubers before planting drug Tabu, then the potato is not afraid of the Colorado potato beetle, wireworm, potato flea, leafhoppers and other harmful insects.

This requires making a working solution. For 100 kg of potatoes, it is necessary to dilute 8 ml of the product in 1 liter of water.

  1. First, Taboo is diluted in a glass of water, stirred thoroughly, and then the rest of the water is poured in. Before planting, the tubers are laid out on a tarp in 1 layer.
  2. The resulting solution is shaken and sprayed onto the potatoes.
  3. So that the tubers are evenly covered with the composition, they are turned over.

As part of Taboo dye available, because of this, you will immediately understand which potatoes the drug did not get on.

Breeze potatoes are easy to care for, they can grow on any land and under any climate conditions, the main thing is to water it.

Potatoes "Breeze": characteristics and taste of the variety

Potatoes are one of the indispensable products on the menu of any family. For those who have chosen Breeze potatoes for planting, the description of the variety will help to better navigate its characteristics. After that, you can start looking for seed tubers. The variety belongs to the medium early, therefore it is suitable for planting in central Russia and the northern regions. Gardeners who have already grown Breeze on their site appreciated its excellent taste and high yield.

Advantages and disadvantages

The potato variety Breeze attracts growers with many of its positive qualities. For example, those who grew it noticed that it is distinguished by such qualities as:

  • undemanding to soil
  • resistance to many potato diseases
  • excellent yield
  • resistance of tubers to mechanical damage during harvesting
  • excellent presentation of potatoes, suitability for sale
  • high percentage of tuber preservation during storage
  • versatility of application.

There were no drawbacks in the potato variety Breeze, except for the nematode attack.

Growing and care

Potato Breeze well adapted to the weather conditions of different climatic zones and gives a good harvest, but, nevertheless, there are certain growing rules that must be observed.

Seed preparation:

  1. The seeds are selected strong, without damage and signs of infection, medium-sized tubers. Large tubers can be cut, leaving up to three eyes on each part.
  2. For germination, place the potatoes in containers or on shelves in a bright and warm place (12 ° -17 °). On the 35-40th day, sprouts should appear.
  3. During germination, turn the tubers and spray with preparations that stimulate growth (according to the instructions).
  4. Germination in boxes filled with wet peat or sand gives a good result - the loss of nutrients is much less, the sprouts appear faster.
  5. Before planting, lightly sprinkle the potatoes with ash and sprinkle with copper sulfate (1g per ten-liter bucket).
  6. The size of the shoots when planting is 1.5-2 cm.

Soil preparation:

  1. Potatoes prefer sunny areas with light soil. With a close occurrence of groundwater, landing on ridges and ridges is justified.
  2. During the autumn digging, add components that improve its composition:
  • lime or dolomite flour - into acidic soils
  • peat, humus, manure (one bucket per 1m²) - loamy, heavy
  • peat, humus, clay soil - sandy, sandy loam
  • a mixture of coarse sand, clay soil and humus (compost) - peat soils.
  1. When digging, add fertilizers - superphosphate (2 tablespoons), potassium sulfate (1 tablespoons), ash (1 glass). If fertilizers were not applied in the fall, then in the spring, apply directly to the holes in the same proportion.
  2. Digging up the ground, remove the roots of weeds, pupae and insect larvae.

Boarding time:

  • varieties of medium and early ripening are planted in early May
  • the ground (12-15cm) should warm up to 7 ° -8 °
  • in case of low temperatures, seedlings in small areas can be covered with covering material.

Potato planting options:

  1. On the ridge: spread the tubers in even rows with an interval of 25-30 cm between them, cover with earth from the rows. The height of the ridges is 15cm, the distance between them is 70cm.
  2. Landing on ridges: fill in ridges 20cm high and 1m wide.
  3. Smooth method: plant in holes (10cm) with an interval for early varieties of 60cm and a row spacing of 70cm.

Planting on raised soil retains moisture better, maintains an optimal thermal regime.

Planting care:

  1. Lightly loosen the soil 7 days after planting to remove the crust.
  2. Perform the first hilling at a bush height of 15-20 cm, then carry out two more. Hilling protects against frost. Improves access of nutrients to the roots.
  3. Early ripening varieties should be watered at a tuber size of 1 cm.
  4. Top dressing begins when the tops (1 2 hl of urea) actively begin to grow, the next is the formation of buds (1 hl of nitrophosphate), then the beginning of flowering (1 hl of superphosphate).

Harvesting potatoes:

  1. Mid-early varieties are harvested after 2-2.5 months, when the bushes stop blooming and the lower leaves turn yellow, without waiting for the stem to turn yellow completely.
  2. Potatoes, whose tops are dead, should not be left in the ground - this will lead to infection of the tubers with pests and to a decrease in nutritional value.
  3. It is not recommended to harvest potatoes immediately after frost and early in the morning.
  4. Dry the dug tubers for 2-3 hours in the fresh air or under a canopy.
  5. The tops are dried and burned.

Advantages and disadvantages

The Breeze potato variety has its pros and cons. Its advantages include the following factors:

  • good keeping quality - when organizing the right premises for storing crops and treating tubers with fungicidal preparations, up to 97% of all potatoes are preserved until the next season without losses
  • characteristic sweetish taste - the tubers are lightly boiled, optimal for frying, do not burn, can be used for deep-fried dishes, also suitable for puréing
  • good commodity parameters - Breeze is massively sold in stores and markets, each tuber has approximately equal dimensions, a neat oblong shape, a thin strong skin that protects the pulp from deformation during harvest and subsequent transportation
  • resistance to basic diseases of potatoes with correct agrotechnical methods of cultivation.

The main disadvantages of this variety include the following:

  • medium resistance to diseases such as minced meat and late blight
  • frequent defeat by nematodes (golden)
  • average starch capacity, due to which the pulp practically does not boil during heat treatment.

This variety is grown both for sale and for long-term winter storage.

Another very early and high-yielding potato variety is Bellarosa. The variety is drought tolerant and suitable for most types of soils. The bush is tall, with reddish-purple flowers. The tuber is round-oval in shape, with a pink skin. The pulp is light yellow, with high palatability. The beautiful presentation and good keeping quality of this variety make it popular and well-sold. Bellarose potatoes are highly resistant to viruses and diseases. Productivity - 320 kg / ha and more.
